The MAGALUF HALF MARATHON proposes 26th June, 2021 as the date for the event.

 

• The new date allows the organisation to work with guarantees if the epidemiological evolution in Mallorca continues to be positive.
• The aim is to ensure that the sporting event does not lose its essence and to guarantee all safety measures.

June 26th is the date finally set for the MAGALUF HALF MARATHON 2021. The event, which was scheduled for 17th April, has been rescheduled in order to ensure that it can be held with greater guarantees of success.

 

As indicated by the data on the evolution of the pandemic in the Balearic Islands in recent weeks, there has been a significant improvement (a slowing down in the number of cases, less hospital saturation, and an increase in the number of people vaccinated).

 

This is slow but very encouraging progress, which, although it means that some restrictions will have to be maintained in the coming months, also opens the door to a possible recovery of some activities, including competitive sporting events.

 

From MAGALUF HALF MARATHON we realise that there are still not enough guarantees to be able to organise the event on the 17th of April, as, among other things, we cannot yet establish the total capacity of the event, and therefore, we cannot estimate the logistics necessary for the participants.

 

We believe that by postponing the event to 26th June, as long as Mallorca continues to experience an improvement in the situation of the pandemic, we will be able to work within a time frame, defined capacity, and introduce actions which make this event a differentiated sporting event (entertainment, refreshments, …).

Working against the clock on the new edition

Therefore, with this press release we begin the journey of the next MARATHON HALF MAGALUF 2021 that will take place on 26th June, circumstances permitting, and we start working on the new features which we will announce in the coming weeks:

• Changes in the circuit and the rules
• Redefinition of the race timetable
• Partners
• Opening of registration for the event
• Collaborative organisation

 

Those who had registered for the race will receive in the next few hours an email from the organisation with two options: 1.- to confirm their registration for the race on the new date, 2.- 100% refund of the registration fee.

Organisation & collaborators

The MAGALUF HALF MARATHON is a sporting event organised by the Calvià 2004 Foundation and the Calvià Town Hall through the “Institut Calvianer d’Esports” (Calvià Sports Institution). Among other collaborators, the event has the support of the “FUNDACIÓ MALLORCA TURISME” (MALLORCA TOURISM FOUNDATION), which backs the project for its aspect of promoting tourism and image projection of the island of Mallorca.
